This one took me a while also. Tracked in total 7 bisons but they all left the area of the mission. Lastly I just settled in the hunting stand in the area and went to brew some coffee. When I came back there were bisons just in front of me. So binoculars and spot one, mission done.
This one took a while, my best tip is to get a 4x4 from an outpost and then just drive around until you see a white bison body and then drive up to it and harvest it.
I found it while driving downhill from the hunting stand towards the lookout. But as we all know this game, it may be random.
Spoiler: the cause of the 'illness' seems to be lead poisoning based on the harvest screen that states that the bison was killed with a .454 Flat Nosed Hard-Cast Bullet..... Guess there was some kind of limitation in the game engine : )
Another photo quest! I really don't like these but at least this time it did not bug out at the last possible moment!
Mission details:
Travel to southeastern Petershain
Find a Fallow Deer
Make sure you have the Königsberg Lake in the background
Take a photo
This one has taken me 3 calendar weeks to complete. And maybe 20 hours game time (also doing other stuff while just waiting for animals to appear)
The first week I found a Fallow Deer but I guess the bush around the shoreline was too thick to get a good photo. After that I've tried different tactics among others to wait prone on rocks around their need areas but with no luck at all.
What I did when I finally got the picture.
Starting out at the outpost in southeastern Petershain
Slowly make my way to the hunting tower on the hill
Get distracted by a red fox and spend 5 minutes to try to lure it from the hunting stand
Remember my mission and exit the hunting stand
Move slowly toward north
Spot a Fallow Deer at 70 meters
Crawl towards the Fallow Deer and try not to make any noises
Loose sight of the Fallow Deer
Panic and crawl a little more
At 44 meters spot it again as it is moving
Bring up camera and click away and get lucky that one photo gets accepted
No luck all skill! Hehe, maybe not.. As all missions in this game, its pure random. One can spend 3 hours trying to find a Fallow Deer with no luck or find it the first thing within 12 minutes and complete the mission.
A lot of coyote hunting missions in theHunter Call of the Wild take place in the Cheelah area. Let's look at good spots to find coyotes!
Around the Cheelah Lake
Map of Cheelah Lake with my best coyote hunting areas marked with red
This area is a pain but there are missions that require you to locate coyotes around the Cheelah Lake. My best luck has been in the woods on the northern shore and up in the eastern mountains.
And my best tactic in this area has been:
Do something else entirely and let them spot you
Stop, crouch or crawl towards the sound and at the same time use the caller to attract their attention.
Keep track so that the coyote does not have time to circle you and try to spot it with your binoculars
Take the shot or crawl closer to get a photo
In the Cheelah area in general
If I need to go coyote hunting in the Cheelah area in general I would go to the mountain to the north of the Cheelah Hiking Village (red square on the map above). Here I have found packs of coyotes from time to time and in general got most of my harvests here.
Here the best tactic is to follow tracks as there usually are multiple coyotes in this area. Only a few times that I've not found any up here in the mountains.
In the Cheelah Hiking Village area, the blue square is your friend. But you need a lot of patience and call, and call and call before you might have luck to spot one. Be prepared to return multiple times before you encounter your prey here in this area.
Here in the blue square, sitting still and calling is your best tactic.
As always with this game, no guarantees. The randomness is just pure hell and a lot of patience is needed for any hunt that you do!
If you find this helpful, or have other experiences in the Cheelah area regarding coyotes, don't hesitate to leave a comment!
The introduction mission in Red Dead Redemption 2. Here's a quick walkthrough.
Mission starts with you following Dutch into the snow blaze.
Horse buttons (Xbox One)
Ride faster, pump A
Ride slower, press RB
Ride same speed as other person, hold A
Jump up on your horse, press Y
Jump off your horse (and hitch it if possible), press Y
Hit your horse, for whatever reason you'd want that you crazy person, press B
Meet up with Micah and follow him to the homestead in the snow storm.
Hitch your horse where the others hitched theirs by pressing Y
Press L to crouch walk, and go to the shed and press RB to take cover
Lean forward (L forward) to get a better view of what is going on. Note the people exiting the building from the backdoor
Select your gun by holding LB and selecting the revolver in the wheel and then releasing LB.
Aim with your gun by holding LT
Engage in the shootout by RT, be sure you have a good aim before doing so.
Take down all the hostile persons. I think you could press R to get into Dead Eye mode, (bullet time). Not sure if it is available in this mission as I did not use it. But if available, then it should make the fight a little easier.
Loot the people outside after the firefight.
Enter the house and press X to loot stuff inside the house.
When done with looting, exit the house and go to the stables.
Fist fight technique is:
Hold X to block
Press B to punch
Just beat the guy until he speaks and then decide if you want to let him live or kill him to
Approach the horse, press X to calm her.
Once calm, press Y to lead the horse outside.
Get back to the main house, watch the narrative and the gang getting back to the temporary headquarters.
So I bought this game and I've been playing it for hours now. It's awesome, but there are things that had me wondering a bit when I started out. Being a huge game, it has a lot of details that take time to learn.
I play this on the Xbox One, hence the button references are to the Xbox One controller. Button references will be within parenthesis.
Horses and Stagecoaches
Don't press (B) near your horse, turns out that you will throw a punch at the horse and lose some bonding points. Not a good thing.
(Y) will allow for safe jump on your horse or jump up to the drivers position on the stagecoach. Took me forever to figure the stagecoach thing out in the middle of a mission, ended up shooting my gun instead and waking up the whole house. Thus failing the Hosea stagecoach stealing mission.
Hunting
Get the right caliber weapon for whatever you are hunting. I.e. .22 caliber for small animals. If you don't then the quality of pelts harvested will go down.
Only shoot once, figure out where the animal goes down on one shot. If you shoot more then once, then the quality of pelts and furs go down as well. Still haven't managed a pristine, ***, three star, pelt of any kind.
Always check (L+R) when going hunting and continuously while on a hunt to get wind direction. Always have the wind in your face while hunting, or at least away from the direction that you are going.
Deer and bucks, aim for the hear or neck to get a one shot kill.
You don't have to lift off the animal carcass that you want to sell from your horse if you want to sell it. Just have your horse close by and approach a vendor. Saves a lot of time once you figure this out.
Use the bow for hunting deer, that was you don't damage the pelts. Using a rifle will most likely take away one star
Money making
Do the missions. Any other means to money is useless in this game.
Collect the gold bar from the burned out village south-west from the Horseshoe overlook camp and sell it to a fence
Loot all enemies! Sell all looted valuables to a fence
Ok. Hope this helps someone out there! Good luck, have fun!
I continued in the same region as Vualez #5, to the north of the Cheelah Hiking Village. North of the outpost there.
First thing first, be sure to buy and equip a .357 magnum revolver, a sight for it and ammo.
Also, as we have completed the Vualez #5, we already have the Jackrabbit Predator Caller. It will come in use this time as well.
I headed north-west towards the hunting stand and found tracks from Coyotes there. Followed up into the hills and found a large group of Coyotes there. Took aim and shoot a few of them, thinking damn this was easy.
After harvesting the first one that was a clear hit (the other shots were more chancing) I started to follow the footprints and blood on the ground from the second coyote and spent about an hour following a trail that went back towards itself and just was too complicated to follow through. Really frustrating.
Next day I went on a tour to other regions on the map trying to find Coyotes, no luck at all. Only a few deer.
Back at the outpost in Cheelah Hunting Village, I went back to the hunting stand and was called out by a coyote almost immediately. It got spooked as the wind was directly towards it but at least I got a trail to follow.
Using the Jackrabbit Predator Caller and following the trail crouched I finally got called at again and then I could crawl to a rock and get better perspective of the area and spot the Coyote and take a shot.
After running to it and harvesting it the mission was completed. 4 hours real time.
Tip: be sure to be closer then 50 meters to the target before taking the shot, its a revolver mission, not a rifle one : )
It is time for the next Vualez mission, this time number 5.
We have to:
Travel to Cheelah Hiking Village
Use the Predator "Jackrabbit" Caller
Harvest 2 Coyotes
The video above with its ~15 minutes is condensed from 9 hours of footage.
First part is easy, just get to the Cheelah Hiking Village, I decided to take the lookout tower to start with and then move to the Hunting Lodge so that I had a spawn point closely (I don't own the DLCs)
While moving around, use the Jackrabbit caller like once or twice a minute so that eventual Coyotes will get interested.
The first Coyote was found after I took down one Blacktail Deer, then I suddenly found the Coyote footprints and used the Predator caller again to get it interested. Once identifier it was just a well-placed shot and one of two Coyotes were bagged within one hour of getting the mission.
The second one turned out to be a problem. Over 3 days I sneaked around the area and sat in cover and used the caller during the morning hours, afternoon hours and during night time with no luck.
Tip: Move slowly if you have to, make sure the sound meter is at zero. And make sure you move crouched. Don't run around. (even if that works from time to time as well). But for the long run, be stealthy. The Coyotes are good at spotting you and keeping their distance.
After no sign of a Coyote for 8 real world hours I decided to move around a bit, very slowly and using the caller during the night time in the game and from nowhere I got a mating call back. Used the Jackrabbit Predator Caller once. Crawled slowly backward to get a better view of the landscape and tried to spot the Coyote with the binoculars. After a little while it appeared a bit to the left of the call and I managed to get my scope to 75 meter and place a shot at it.
Mission completed.
Another tip: Coyotes will try to circle you when you call them. So they will not come straight for you, keep your eyes open and pan the whole area to spot it.
I might do some other missions in between before continuing the Vualez story arch..
Harvest a coyote and earn an Integrity Bonus of 100%
So integrity is key here, meaning you need to choose a caliber that works for Coyotes. I ran with the Ranger .243 for this mission.
But yeah, back to Cheelah Lake. That dry hole that never has anything that you are looking for.
I ran around the lake for some time until I decided to shoot a Blacktail Deer, and suddenly the Coyote called its Warning and I was able to coax it out by using the Jackrabbit Predator Caller.
For me I managed to complete this one while trying to do another photo mission. It just happened to popup Completed Jäger#4. So a little luck sometimes.
But the strategy, find Fallow Deer tracks. Move crouched until you either find them or find some droppings. If the dropping is Old or Very Old you can just start running until you find the next dropping.
Once you find the Fallow Deer, identify it with binoculars, place a way-point on the map for distance measurements and move close in a prone position crawl with the wind in your face and when in range just get up to crouched position and snap a picture or two.
Hunting Fallow Deer is the mission at hand and the area is the Petershain Cornfields.
The area is quite big and the game hints that you should get a Antler Rattler to make the mission easier.
I did hunted and harvested the first Fallow Deer without an Antler Rattler and the second with one and to be honest, I did not find it helpful at all in this mission. The area is just too big and open fields.
The tactic that worked for me was to enter the area from the East and slowly move through the area while crouched and look through the binoculars every now and then.
Once I spotted a Fallow Deer, I tried to get closer by crawling (prone position). Use the map markers to figure out the distance. Once you are at range for a shot, just take it and then follow the Fallow Deer until you find it and harvest it. It is OK if the animal leaves the Petershain Cornfields once you hit with the first shot. All that matters is that the first shot is within the Petershain Cornfields area.
Large area, and the Fallow Deer are never at where you think so be prepared to be in the area for some time. Think it took me 3 hours to complete over 2 days..
The mission this time is to photograph a Fallow Deer in the Rathenfeldt area.
Sounds simple right?
And it should be.
Just walk around until you find some tracks and start to follow them, don't run or walk but walk in a crouched position. This way it is less likely that the Fallow Deer will see or hear you and thus a higher probability that you will succeed in getting close.
Once you spot a Fallow Deer at a distance, get into prone position and crawl closer. Usually the photo missions in this game need you to be quite close by before you take the photo.
So crawl towards the animal, make sure that the wind is in your face so that the Fallow Deer doesn't notice your scent.
Once you are closer, equip the camera and get up to a crouched position to take the photo. For me, the mission completed on the first picture but I know that the game is quite buggy around photo missions so take a few if it doesn't complete directly.
If the animal notices you and runs away, just follow in a crouched position and repeat the crawl and photo bit. But maybe get a little closer this time!
Back in 2011 I bought the game Alice: Madness Returns and played it through all the way until the last boss (I think). But after a few dozen failed attempts I kind of just quit trying.
It was the perfect game all the way until that point where the difficulty peaked a tad too much.
Now a few weeks ago my better half tested if the game was backward compatible with the Xbox One, and to our surprise it was. So she has been playing it through while I've been watching.
So does the game still work? Yes it does and here is why!
It is lovely in a strange way, it is Alice after all
It is looooong and well designed.. Very well designed.
A lot of puzzles that are fun to solve
For us it was a totally new game, no memories of the first time, it has been some years after all.
So if you haven't played it through yet (or even if you have) happen to find it in a used games or bargain bin, don't hesitate. Buy it and play it through on your Xbox One.
And yeah, she beat the last boss on the first attempt... !
The first mission/task in a new game, always a little thrilling!
The goal here is pretty much to learn the ropes and get out of the cave. But be sure to look around a little to pick up some health berries etc.
Starting out, a cut-scene where you will be asked to repeatedly press (X) key on the gamepad to fill up the knife silhouette.
When you are up just run towards the hillside where the Axe Climb text appears. Climb the rock and the rest is pretty straight forward even though there are some nasty camera angles.
Another photo mission. This time the goal is to photograph any animal while in a prone position.
So, do what we've done all along to find an animal... Find tracks, use callers etc. and then start sneaking crouched towards the animal while still calling.
Use binoculars to spot the animal and when you find one, get down in a prone position and snap away.
I was able to complete the mission while using full zoom of the camera, but knowing that photo missions have 'bugged' before I recommend getting a little closer before snapping the first photo as animals can spot you and run away when they see the camera flash/hear the click sound.
Third mission in Hirschfelden, Central Europe.
Pretty much the same as the lookout tower, but this time its the first hunting lodge that you need to find.
Place a waypoint on the hunting lodge to the north of the lookout tower.
Run to the place and select the flag-pole... Be sure to collect the horns behind the building for some extra XP
Second mission in Hirschfelden. Just place a waypoint on the lookout tower and climb it and look at the information board at the top to complete the mission
The first mission in Hirschfelden, Central Europe.
Find animal tracks
Shoot an animal
Harvest an animal
I got lucky and spotted a Roe Deer directly on the path and just placed a shot... Ran to the spot and looked at the blood tracks and then tracked it down to complete the mission. Not the best shot but the mission was completed.
Harvest an animal downed within 30 meters with a shotgun
Luckily a shotgun in the game just costs 6000 credits. And buckshot are 10 for ~500.
So, I did the mission around the Cheelah area, north of the hunting lodge. Track down a deer, move close by crawling and use your deer caller to attract its attention. When it comes into range, as Doc said.. When you can see it in the eye, just pull the trigger and reaim and place another shot it...
Think I missed my first shot.
And I did not get a clean shot so a lot of tracking afterwards, but it seems to bleed out fast when hit with a buckshot (lots of holes)
Travel as close to South Lake as you have explored and start walking crouched towards the lake...
Use a deer caller if you have one
Once you spot a whitetail, start crawling closer.. If you need to orient yourself, get close to a tree and get up to a crouch. If you do not have a range finder, place a waypoint on your map once you spot the whitetail.
Harvest an animal downed with a .45-70 caliber rifle
Biggest part of this quest is to get the rifle, cost 48000... So a lot of saving to get it before even starting with the quest.
Once you get to Roonachee Highs, just run around until you find some tracks or hear an animal. Then slow down, sneaky sneaky crouched or crawling towards it. Use callers if you have them.
I was unable to fit a scope to the rifle so you have to get pretty close until you take the shot. So call and crawl..
My recommendation is to do this mission in the Norden or Calburn Canyon, as I've stumbled across Roosevelt Elk there pretty much each time I visited in the past.
During the mission I came across 3 bears as well, notice the waypoint marker that was placed after the incident so that I was able to track down the animal once Connors mission was completed!
Traveled to Mount Kraken Rope Bridge again (where I did the Blacktail quest) and got lucky to find whitetails directly. Just place a waypoint marker on the map after you have spotted the animal to get an accurate distance if you do not have a range-finder.
After 5 failed attempts I finally managed to get a photo of the bear that actually passes the mission. The mechanics of this mission will make you doubt the correctness of the game, i.e. you have the bear fullscreen on your camera and still it fails to complete. The quest is doable, and feels bugged but just stick to it and you will complete it!
The key to this mission is to sneaky sneaky closer then you would expect, and once you click a photo with your camera, Mr Black will notice you and run away and you have to start all over.
In the successful attempt I crawled to about 15 meters from the bear and once it stood up, I got into a crouched position with the camera and clicked photos.
Mr Black attacked and the mission did not complete until I clicked more pictures during his attack, lucky survivor with 3% health left and a completed mission!
Ah, another night hunting mission... This time to down a Blacktail Deer with a .44 revolver.
Biggest part of this quest for me was to level up hand-guns so that the 44 was unlocked. This took ages.
The actual completion of the mission was just luck... Was doing another quest and the night went out in the evening and suddenly a Blacktail Deer called really close to my location, quick stop and use a deer caller to get its attention. When it appeared, one shot in his spine and harvest to complete the mission.
Hope this helps anyone that got stuck on this mission
This is pretty much a 'run around and look at tracks in the correct region' quest/mission.
No shooting or photographing or anything advanced at all. Just run to all the tracks you see and press X (on Xbox One, may be different on your platform)
Just be sure that you actually roam a big enough area so that you don't keep finding tracks from the same animals over again!
Hope this video helps if you got stuck on this mission!
So basically the idea in this mission is to track down a Black Bear in the Mount Kraken region of the Lake District. I started out tracking a pair of bears for 30 minutes just to have them exit the area. Luckily I managed to find tracks of another bear just near by and started tracking that one. Bears really move around in this game, and I should probably move slower in a crouched walk instead of running as much as I do.
Whenever I hear something interesting and I need to leave the current tracks, I first open the map and place a waypoint so that I can find the location later if I need to.
Remember, only the first shot needs to be in the Mount Kraken region, if you need to track a hurt animal into another region to finish it off, you still get the mission. That is pretty much what I had to do.
If you have a high level character I guess you could just buy a large predator lure and call the bear to you...
Just run around until you find tracks from a bear, follow the tracks and collect the droppings. Nowhere in the mission does it state that it should be 3 different bears (there is another mission that does) so just follow the path until you find all 3 droppings and collect them to complete the mission!
Another extremely hot day in Sweden... Too hot to actually do anything outside during the day, also started out with my chemo therapy yesterday so not at all interested in being in the sun ; )
A perfect day to watch Tour de France and play theHunter: Call of the Wild....
Today I finally managed to complete one of the first story missions, Trampfine - A family picture, where the goal is to photograph 2 bears in 1 frame with the camera... Should be easy enough you thing, but .. only time I ever saw more then 1 bear at once was on the first day I started playing the game and way before I got this mission. So now, some weeks later I ventured into Norden area and climbed the lookout tower there, and voila... lots of bears approaching..
The mission completion seems a little buggy, had to take a few pictures of the bears until the Mission Completed triggered. So when you see more then one bear in the viewfinder, just click until you get the Mission Completed flag.
Got lucky with this one.
Headed towards an area that I know I've seen deer at before. After a while I found a male blacktail deer and decided to take a practice shoot.
Not a good hit, had to start tracking the wounded animal and jut happened to find a whitetail drinking on the trail.
A quick call with the deer caller and it got instantly interested in me and started approaching. Up with the gun and a well placed shot downed the deer withing 5 meters of the initial hit.
100 Quick Kill Bonus.
Be sure to hit in the lung/heart region.. Or go for the lucky shot in the neck.
This one took forever to complete. Mostly because I almost only found Blacktail deer during my 13 first attempts and the 2 Whitetail tracks that I followed left the area.
Just be persistent.
The whitetails don't seem to like the hunting tower on the northern side of the lake. Most luck in the woods to the north and to the south-east.
By now you should have already completed the first 2 Vualez missions, and the best tactic for those two was just to hear, track and spot. So nothing new here, just another mission to rub it in.
I did this in 2 sessions as I was able to hear a Coyote while trying to complete another mission, so that part was already completed when I the day after found the footprints and tracked one down.
Just like the Vualez #1 mission, but with a rifle instead of the binoculars and no area restriction.
I found my 2 coyotes around the northern parts of Cheelah Lake while trying to do the 'Harvest 1 whitetail at night' mission.
Just move around until you find coyote tracks or hear a coyote warning or mating call. Then just sneak towards higher ground and use your Jackrabbit caller to make it show itself. And then just use the rifle.
Hope this helps someone out there.. Or just enjoy the video : )
Be sure to buy the Predator "Jackrabbit" Caller lure before heading out.
My luck was in the south western corner of the region. Found some tracks, moved around until a warning call and used the Jackrabbit caller to get the coyote to show herself.
Second one was in the north-eastern corner of the area. Same thing here, found some tracks that I followed while calling with the Jackrabbit caller until a warning call was heard, then sneaky sneaky towards the sound while calling with the Jackrabbit. Just make sure to minimize your sound output.
It's all about luck... I.e. that the correct animal spawns within the Kraken Rope Bridge area. First time I got the correct Blacktail Deer spawn but tried to down it from the actual rope bridge (400m shoot) and missed. 2 other times I got misses as well until I started figuring out the area and where to place the shot.
So, best place in my mind to camp is within the red circle on the map below. That way you have a great field of vision (green area)
Whenever you spot a deer, place a way-point on on the map to get the distance if you do not have a range-finder (pretty early in the game so you probably do not)
Move, sneak until you get the correct distance. Easiest if the Blacktail Deer is feeding, i.e. stationary. If it is moving, then you just have to try the shot.
I got lucky in the video above and managed to sneak into range for a pretty clear shot, the controls in the game are not that good so I still managed to miss the vital (a lot of movement even though I have maxed out the skills/perks to lessen the movement while aiming)
But in the end, the deer got downed and the mission was successful.
Yep so I did it.. I bought a hunting game....
So, why this one? Just because I saw my brother in law playing it a while ago, no other reason.
Why now? Because I sit at home with nothing to do due to sick-leave... I figured that a hunting game would at least bring some hours of joy!
Nothing fancy here. Can select gender and some stiff predefined character models. Would have liked a little bit more, but its a hunting game.. So I guess the focus wasn't on characters...
Hope they allow me to buy other clothes in the game as the olive green non-camo clothes that were default don't really fit my style.
First mission: The first steps
So the first mission is to track down an animal, shoot it and collect the remains.
The tracks are directly on the beaten path. I ventured out into the wild and had to backtrack when Doc told me he had sent me the coordinates. Just investigate the tracks and follow the direction and when you see the animal, try to shoot it in the lung/heart region.
Impressions
I've played 3 tutorial missions so far, found the look-out point and the first cabin and hunted some white-tail.
The game seems large, and each hunt seems to take a little while so I guess I'll be spending some hours in this beautiful game.
Ah, this one was a bit tricky.
I started with calling in airstrikes as I thought that the Colonel was in the open, turns out he was in a house.. No clue how my binoculars picked him up. (window?)..
When he starts fleeing, just run to the bunker down the slope and enter that way instead and take him out when he arrives. Just be on your watch as there are some more enemies there and its quite close quarters.
Dutch's Island is the first real playable area after the cinematic and heavily scripted intro sequence (I think this is officially part of the game intro as well..)
At first you wake up in Dutch's bunker, be sure to customize your character to your liking (remember that you decided on gender earlier already)
Talk to Dutch and he will open up his gun safe for you to get a handgun (1911) and some ammo. Also recommended to pick up a shovel or a pipe club before leaving the bunker.
There are some more things to listen to and read in the bunker but I am unsure if they are really needed if you do not want to.
Once outside, you will be briefed in how to build resistance in the area.
4 ways to build resistance in Far Cry 5
There are 4 ways to do this.
Rescue civilians
This one is self explanatory. Just find civilians, remove the cultist threat to them and Liberate them. They will thank you.
Destroy cult properties.
There are 2 shrines on the island, luckily the cultist built in gas tubes into the structures so that they can light them up during the night. Makes them easier to destroy for you. Just shoot at the canisters and take cover. Be vary as both shrines are guarded by 3 cultists.
Complete missions.
We will go through the missions on the island in a moment
Liberate cult outposts
There is a cult outpost at the center of the island that needs liberation. Basically you need to neutralize all cultists in the area and you get the outpost for yourself and your resistance friends
Liberate first shrine
To the west of Dutch's bunker lies the first cult shrine. It is guarded by 3 people so use your binoculars to tag them. That way you can keep track of them easier.
Sneak up close as you only have a handgun. Wait for the right moment and just pop them in sequence.
Lookout tower
Directly to the south of the shrine is a lookout tower. To the south of the tower, 2 cultists have taken a civilian. He seems like someone that can be liberated.
Preppers stash
To the south west lies a boat house and a bunker. Read the note on the small pump house next to the bunker to start the side quest Sunken Funds
Enter the boat house by swimming into it from the lake. Start the generator and get the key next to the door before you leave.
Go back to the preppers bunker and start the pump at the small hut.
Open the bunker and use a pipe to smash the wooden wall in there to enter the innermost room. Pick up all the money that lies around and get the composite bow if you are into archery.
Outpost
To the south of the boathouse lies the cult outpost of the island.
Start by scouting the area from all angles. Mark all the enemies with your binoculars and find the best moment to attack. I went in with the bow as it is silent and the bad guys had trouble locating me directly.
Once they area is secure the outpost will be in your control and you can liberate the guy they were beating behind the main house.
Second shrine
Is located to the west of the outpost. Also guarded by 3 people.
If you are quick you can neutralize the first 2 without the third noticing as he is further away from the first pair. Same drill as the first shrine. Just destroy it and loot the cultists
Gun for hire
From the shrine, use your binoculars to mark the 2 cultists beating your kidnapped friend to be on the other side of the water (left of the boat house)
Swim over to their side, neutralize the 2 cultists and talk to your new friend to HIRE him.
Dutch will radio in and tell you to secure the Silver Lake Conservation Forest Research Station, evidently it has been overrun with cultists.
Head on north, try to spot the cultists with the binoculars and be sure of your shooting as there is a bunch of them. I failed miserably by not hitting anything with my bow. Had to change back to the 1911 and rely on the gun for hire guy.
Enter the house and release the civilian in there.
The Radio Tower
To reach the radio tower, just follow the road south and west from the outpost. The tower was unguarded as I played this mission. Just climb to the top and reset the tower.
I sure hope that Dutch holds his word that this is the only tower, as I had a flashback to Far Cry 3 where there were too many of them. : )
Congratulations, you have now completed the first area and liberated Dutch's island from the cult.
Exploring, hunting and fishing at Dutch's Island
Before you continue your adventure and leave the island, be sure to check out all the stuff that can be done after the liberation.
Just to the east of the radio tower is a Reaping Truck that can be opened by a lever on the side, there will be ammunition, bullet proof west, nitro, baseball bat and a note that can be read. The area around the trailer is also where deer use to hang out, ready to be caught. Nice extra money income selling the skins to local vendors.
In the south, to the east of the research station, you can rescue a civilian from a cultist to get information about an potential ally called Merle Briggs who has been cornered at a nearby trailer park. Be sure to keep an eye out for the fanatics from Faiths lands that may make it to the island. They are nasty creatures and that may take some force to neutralize.
In the lookout tower, if you talk with the people you will get information that there is an master angler Skylar Kohrs who might need help with catching some special fish.
Also on the east coast of the island, there is a vendor. Most fishermen and hunters in the wild will be able to act as vendors and this is the first one. Here you can sell stuff and buy upgrades.
Be sure to buy a fishing pole when you are there. A lot of fish in the water that can be caught and sold to vendors.
No sniper rifle is better then the scope that it has. So lets get the best (at least in my opinion)...
Located in Koani with no guards at all. Just get a helicopter and fly there... Recommend the farm in mid-south Itacua for helicopter. Fly low, there are SAM sites on the path.
Set a waypoint as seen in the following map (the green circle), and head there. You could even land right in the compound. I landed a bit outside to recon but at least for me it was empty. Chose your risk level yourself.
This time we will get the ACR, my favorite assault rifle in Wildlands. Totally obtainable at a low level, you just have to be careful of what you do when you try to reach the location of the ACR.
Start out by getting a helicopter. If you do not know where, then there is a large farm in mid-south Itacua where there almost always is a helicopter waiting. Just drive there and take off.
Farm in mid-south Itacua where you can get a helicopter
We will be heading to Media Luna, an area famous for its SAM (surface to air) sites. So we need to keep a low profile in the area.
Start by flying to Agua Verde and the North Western point of the huge lake. You should be able to find the small delta of the river that goes across Media Luna.
Fly low in the ravine, there are some tricky parts when passing under some bridges but just keep a slow and steady pace and you should be OK.
Land at the landing zone marked above (preferably do not crash like I did in the movie), sneak over the the Recon area also marked on the map and use your drone to scout the area. Should be a lot of Unidad troops. At this point I hope you already got the M40A5 sniper rifle from Itacua, otherwise this will get tricky.
After you have marked them all, Sync Shoot the ones in the tower. Followed by the box in the alarm tower.
After that you should be able to snipe and sync shoot the rest, start from the east. They will hunt you if they find a body, and they probably will. But as you are on high ground on the other side of the river, you should be OK. Just keep sniping the troops and then move along the assault path down to the river and cross it from opposite side of the docks.
Just sneaky sneaky up (or run, as you should have sniped all enemies) and get the Weapons Cache. Located close to the bunker at the westernmost side of the base.
And that's how you get the ACR in Ghost Recon Wildlands when starting out the game with a low level character!
Time to get a little more punch in the Assault Rifle category, the M4A1, a classic.
The gun itself is located in Flor de Oro, at the Armadillo Hunting Lodge. To get there, we will be flying. If you just completed the M1891 then you already have wings and can just take of with the supply plane and parachute to the landing zone.
You can of course land a helicopter on the same ledge or approach the area by car and climb the hill... parachuting was just a nice effect for the movie : ) .
This time we will run into some resistance for the first time. Do the scouting with your drone and select a target when he wanders out of view from his mates and neutralize it.
There will be reinforcements if you get spotted, I did but managed to complete it with the one revive that I had.
I try not to add any extra skills even if they are available so that it is realistic to get these items when you start out the game.. i.e. when you do not have anything.
Next weapon to get on low level is the M1891 sniper rifle in La Cruz. For this mission it is easier if you get a helicopter. So lets do that first and at the same time get the ATPIAL Laser Sight for SMGs.
Lets start with the Helicopter, choice is southern Ocoro. See map above (red marker)
Approach the house from North-East and scout the area with your drone. Should be 2 cartel members in front of the church and 3 in the fields behind it.
Sync shoot the ones in front of the house and move in. Kick in the door of the house and get the Accessory Cache with the APTIAL Laser Sight.
Exit the house and clear the remaining 3 Santa Blanca members from the fields with your silenced weapon and lastly steal the helicopter
Fly to the south and land at the point marked on the following map
Scout with drone and mark the enemies. There is a bunch of them so let sync shoot take out the heavy.
Once the shooting begins, move fast and secure the area and hopefully you will have a plane to steal at the end of this as well.
The M1891 sniper is located at the end of the makeshift runway.
So there. Another sniper acquired. Not one of my favorites as it can equip suppressors, and thus does not suite my play-style that well. But it has stopping power so it could be used to shoot engine blocks of resource convoys.
When creating a second character (save slot) in Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands there seems to be an annoying bug, at least on Xbox One.
When trying to get Weapons Caches, they do not activate. You will be able to press Y to open Loadout menu but not the actual cache. They do not appear on the minimap or tactical map either.
To solve this, I had to
logout the second save slot,
switch to the first save slot and load the game.
and then switch back to the second save slot.
After that all Weapons Caches work fine on the second save slot.
Another weapon that can be reached quite easily by a low level operator is the 556xi Assault Rifle located in Western caimanes, just to the east of the M1911 pistol in the previous post.
If you already did the M1911 mission, just steal the helicopter and fly into the 556xi area. If not, you need to find a helicopter as there is a high concrete wall surrounding the area that can't be jumped.
If you approach from the north, there will be no resistance and you should be able to sneak down into the pit and retrieve the 556xi from the Weapons Cache without being spotted. If you want to be sure, take out the snipers in the towers beforehand.
Getting this nice gun should be no problem either on low levels. Just have to steal a helicopter or prepare for a long trip with a car over the mountains in Ocoro. Should be no problem, just don't stop for enemies and don't drive too close to Unidad patrols.
The actual farm is lightly guarded. This time only by 2 Santa Blanca, but I've seen a third other times.. In the fields so be sure to scout the area with your drone before entering.
Take out the enemies near the helicopter and steal it afterwards and get the 556xi next!
Last weapon in Itacua is the Super Shorty shotgun that is perfect for close quarters. It has a slow reload but you can quickly fire the 2 shells in the rifle.
It is located at the docks of a Unidad base in the East of Itacua, close to the river.
I found the best entry is to actually enter the area to the west of Itacua called Ocoro. From there move close to the river and scout the area with the drone. There should not be that much activity down at the docks, just one or two Unidad soldiers (I ran into one).
Enter the docks by swimming across the river following the green path on the map. Just sneak up to the roof of the building to find the weapons cache containing the Super Shorty
If you want a sniper rifle to start out with, there is one located in Itacua. I Actually started next to it the first play through as it is at Itacua Echo safe house.
It is a nice bolt action rifle with a suppressor from the start. The scope could be a bit better but it does its job.
Getting the MG121 Light Machine Gun can be accomplished without much effort even before starting the story line.
It is located in southern Itacua in a small Santa Blanca base in the mountains.
As seen on the map above, the best approach is from the high ground above the base. Approach the rocky ledge just above the base and do some scouting with your drone and binoculars.
After you have tagged all Santa Blanca troops in the area (or as many as you feel comfortable with), take out the two snipers in the towers.
Follow the GREEN path down and enter the base near the helipad. Neutralize the patrol there silently and you can loot the weapons cache without disturbance.
This is a pretty straight forward mission, not much resistance from enemy forces. Just play it cool at keep track of Raynors health.
Easiest is to move all your troops as one unit. Select all, press CTRL+1 and then you can select them all by pressing 1. Place Reynor as 2 and you can easily retreat him from battle if needed.
Key here is to build up defenses. The factory is in my mind not really needed. Start by building up an economy, the defenses you already have will get you through the first 10 minutes.
Build supply depots, upgrade your marines guns and range
Build Air Defense! There will be flyers in this mission. And build a couple of more bunkers.
All in all not that hard mission if you only trust your marines.
Build up marines and a couple of Fire Bats.. explore the right side of the map if you want to kill all Zergs.
After that start upgrading fire power and explore up to the confederate base. Build more marines and then just rush the Zerg base to the upper right. No real resistance just yet.
Decided to have a nostalgic moment and installed StarCraft the original game from Battle.net client.
Lets see how long I play. This will be more like "Lets play StarCraft" sessions.
