To all of my posts about theHunter Call of the wild
It's all about luck... I.e. that the correct animal spawns within the Kraken Rope Bridge area. First time I got the correct Blacktail Deer spawn but tried to down it from the actual rope bridge (400m shoot) and missed. 2 other times I got misses as well until I started figuring out the area and where to place the shot.
So, best place in my mind to camp is within the red circle on the map below. That way you have a great field of vision (green area)
Whenever you spot a deer, place a way-point on on the map to get the distance if you do not have a range-finder (pretty early in the game so you probably do not)
Move, sneak until you get the correct distance. Easiest if the Blacktail Deer is feeding, i.e. stationary. If it is moving, then you just have to try the shot.
I got lucky in the video above and managed to sneak into range for a pretty clear shot, the controls in the game are not that good so I still managed to miss the vital (a lot of movement even though I have maxed out the skills/perks to lessen the movement while aiming)
But in the end, the deer got downed and the mission was successful.
Hope this helps someone out there. : )
Thanks for the comment!
ReplyDeleteFirst harvest. 192m FML....
ReplyDeleteHi there! You can use the waypoint on map trick to figure out distance before the shot.
DeleteThank you for posting this. It's one of the few tips online for how to beat this one, which I found really tricky. I had only one deer wander the lower flats at night, right around 10:30pm. Missed the shot, but tracked them up and around and happened to find a rest area almost right on top of your red circle. I crawled across the bridge to the far side and up into a house sized boulder to get a nearly blind shot (got that achievement) and dropped a silver stag. I put 3-4 real nights into this mission and I'm so glad it's done!
ReplyDeleteCOTW ENCOURAGEMENT
ReplyDeleteI’m no gaming expert but I feel the need to offer encouragement to fellow gamers whom I know are getting very frustrated with what can be seen to be “broken” missions. I too have had moments when I wanted to just give up & have spent much time scanning the internet for help videos, etc.
By way of encouragement here are my experiences with a few troublesome missions as of June 30, 2021 – I’m playing the single-player version:
Vaulez #1: Leviathan Lake spot 2 Coyotes – Completed
Just to the east of the Balmont/Mount Leviathan “border” there is a smallish lake (close to & NE of a stand location). I found my coyotes here around 05:00. The first barked as I was crossing the border heading east & I was able to call him to me with the jack rabbit lure. The second one was a short while later & further to the east – on the NW shore of the small lake mentioned earlier. This was at a jack rabbit drinking zone & again he responded to the lure. I was able to shoot both after they were spotted.
Hope #6: Kraken Rope Bridge – Blacktail @ 200m – Completed
I took heart from the fact that I had previously spotted blacktail at both ends of the bridge – there is a resting zone just north of the bridge on my map. Because it was always night time & because they had to be at least 200m away I was always unsuccessful.
I returned at dawn (around 05:00) & setup on the “flats” at the westernmost end of the larger island/peninsular located some way to the east of the bridge such that looking due west (towards the bridge) I could look up the length of that arm of the river that the bridge spans. I reasoned that this would place me at least 200m east & a little bit south of the rest area & I would also have a good view of the slopes on the south side of the river ravine.
As it happened all this was moot as when I looked to the south across the flats just as the sun was rising I spotted two blacktail & immediately got my shots off downing both (a male & female). The latter was at 186m but the male was 208m!
In fairness I need to confess that the previous evening I had wiped out nearly all (8-10?) of the blacktail located outside the mission-zone to the west. My reasoning was that maybe this would “scare” them into moving (respawning?) closer to the bridge. Not sure if this is what happened or not.
Doc #6: Layton Lake Shore – 4-sets Whitetail footprints – In Progress
Previously I had spent hours walking all over the mission-zone without spotting any footprints of whitetail although there is a rest area at the easternmost end on my map so I reasoned that I needed to be there shortly before 09:00 & setup just a little NE on the pathway immediately south of the small lake located immediately east of the two larger ones.
Sure enough along came a whitetail buck together with two large moose all heading south & to my west. Not sure what to do I shot & wounded both moose who broke to the north but the buck ran south & over the mission border. Now I have one down & three to go plus I bagged two good moose.
My plan is to return in a day or so & try to repeat the exercise.
If I can do it then so can anyone – just persevere.
